I have no idea why but I spent my time in Verlain - Hotel in paris and it was a very good pleasant experience.
The people were nice, the food- excellent, the atmosphere...

Yes, I can understand that you had a nice stay. I assume that you stayed inside the hotel the whole time and met with non-French people? That's the best approach for Paris!
